  Provincial Governments Salary and Expense Disclosure

Each province and territory was contacted. The available information is as follows:

  • Newfoundland and Labrador
  • Nova Scotia
    • Summaries of expenses of Ministers are located at the Legislative Library for public viewing.  Should you wish to contact the Library, you can reach them at leglib@gov.ns.ca.
  • New Brunswick
    • Travel expenses are disclosed annually in the Public Accounts book - Volume 2. For Ministers, these figures would also include their accommodation allowance. Public Interest Disclosure Act Office expenses are reflected in the departmental sections of total expenditures - also in Volume 2.
  • Ontario
    • Organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario are required to disclose the names, positions, salaries and taxable benefits of employees paid a salary of $100,000 or more.

  • Manitoba
  • Saskatchewan
    • Ministers of the Government of Saskatchewan.
    • Following the end of each fiscal year (March 31), the Government of Saskatchewan prepares the Public Accounts which are published in two volumes. A Financial Statements Compendium is also compiled. These documents can be found at http://www.finance.gov.sk.ca/public-accounts.
      Members of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan prepare an annual report which is submitted on or before September 30th to the Speaker of the House. This report is transmitted to the Board of Internal Economy; and made available for examination by the public during normal business hours at the Clerk’s Office and the Member’s constituency office. The report is then tabled in the next following session of the Legislative Assembly.
  • Alberta
  • British Columbia
    • Ministers of British Columbia’s Executive Council.
    • The Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner (OIPC) is independent from government and monitors and enforces British Columbia's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). FIPPA allows access to information held by public bodies (such as ministries, universities and hospitals) and determines how public bodies may collect, use and disclose personal information. The Information and Privacy Commissioner is David Loukidelis. The website for the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner will provide a lot of useful and helpful information about the process of your request and how to start it.
